Mr. Zyngier founded Batuta Advisors in 2013 to pursue investment and advisory opportunities in distressed and turnaround. Mr. Zyngier has over 20 years of investment, strategy, and operating experience. He is currently a Director of Atari SA, Torchlight Energy Resources, Inc. (TRCH), AudioEye Inc. (AEYE), Applied Minerals, Inc (AMNL), and certain other private entities. Alex was previously Chairman of the Board of Vertis Inc., a director of Island One LLC, Executive Chairman of DTV America Corporation as well as Board Member and Lead Director for Remington Outdoor Company, Inc. Mr Zyngier is also an expert witness in Delaware Bankruptcy Court.
Mr. Zyngier has worked as a Portfolio Manager, investing in public and private distressed opportunities, at Alden Global Capital, Goldman Sachs & Co. and Deutsche Bank Co. During this time, his focus was on distressed investments representing fulcrum securities in the Capital Structure. He was also a strategy consultant at McKinsey & Company. Prior to that, he was a technical brand manager at Procter & Gamble, focused on Latin America Beauty Care Products. Mr. Zyngier holds an MBA in Finance and Accounting from the University of Chicago and a BSc. in Chemical Engineering from UNICAMP in Brazil.
Mr. Gonzalez joined Batuta Advisors in 2016 as a Managing Director. Mr. Gonzalez has over two decades of experience and a successful track record having served as Chairman, Board Member, CEO, CFO and Consultant of multi-national, multi-billion dollar publicly listed corporations, as well as multimillion dollar private startup ventures throughout a range of industries including: Biotech, renewable Energy, Agribusiness, Mining, and others. From 2011 to early 2016 he was Chairman and Board Member of Algenol LLC. and from 2007-2015 he held several senior positions at BioFields S.A.P.I. de C.V., a company focused on large-scale environmentally sustainable enterprises in Mexico, most recently as its CEO and Director. Prior to BioFields, Mr. Gonzalez served as a Director and VP, Finance, and CFO of Southern Copper Corporation (NYSE: SCCO). He was the President and CFO of Grupo Mexico’s Mining Division (Americas Mining Corporation) from 2004 to 2005 and its CFO from 1999 to March 2003.
Mr. Gonzalez holds an MBA in Finance and Accounting from the University of Chicago, was an Associate Graduate Student in Political Philosophy at Oxford University and earned dual MA’s in Economics and Political Science from the University of Arizona.
